Ministry Opportunities at Resurrection Lutheran Resurrection is a family of believers gathered around Word and Sacrament. Every Sunday morning when we open our doors we want to welcome family and friends into our church. Therefore we have a number of people in place to make sure that everyone who comes through our doors feels welcomed and comfortable. Greeters: Greeters welcome everyone who comes through the front door of the church. much like we do in our homes. we welcome those who come into our house of worship with a handshake at the door. Greeters are available to answer any questions visitors may have and direct them to the nursery or other facilities. Ushers: Ushers serve as the second team of hosts to our members and visitors. Ushers distribute our user-friendly bulletins and children's bulletins and assist in making everyone feel comfortable. They also collect the offering at each service and direct the congregation during the Eucharist. After each service, ushers collect the bulletins and prepare the sanctuary for the next service. Acolytes: Acolytes assist the pastor in worship by lighting the candles by the alter before the service and extinguishing them after the service. Acolytes hold the book for the pastor and may also serve as the torch-bearers and crucifers for the major festivals of the Church. Lectors: Lectors read the lessons and lead the psalm for Sunday morning worship. Communion Assistants: Communion Assistants assist the Pastor in distributing Holy Communion as they administer the chalice during the Eucharist. If you would like to serve in one of these ministry opportunities please contact the Pastor or the Church office. The Resurrection Church telephone number is (618)466-2788. |
